Professor Chizindu Alikor, Chief Medical Director Rivers State University Teaching Hospital in his speech stated,

"I have been talking about this Optical Coherence Tomography Machine all the while I have been CMD, I am happy it is finally here" 

The objective of the OCT machine alongside the opening of VIP ophthalmology clinic here in Rivers State University Teaching Hospital reflects our determination to enhance diagnostic capabilities, expand treatment options and improve the quality of care available to our patients" he stated 

"For us at Rivers State Teaching Hospital, progress must be measured, not only by facilities we establish or the equipment we acquire. But very importantly by he lives we touch, the conditions we make better and the confidence we inspire by the people who entrust us with their health." The CMD said 

According to Professor Alikor, "Today's event is an affirmation of our commitment to excellence, innovation and patient centered health care."

The CMD commended the good efforts of Ophthalmology department of RSUTH and used the opportunity the eulogize the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara for prioritizing health care sector in his administration and for his unrelenting support that is evidence in Rivers State University Teaching Hospital 

AllNewsPlatform was there and reports that the machines acquired are Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Machine for advanced retinal and optic nerve imaging, Phacoemulsification machine for cataract surgery and Visionix Multimodal Analyzer for advanced diagnostic ophthalmic assessment 

Dr Vincent Wachukwu, permanent secretary Rivers State Ministry of Health praised the CMD for his visionary and unrelenting efforts in ensuring RSUTH grows to the positive height it has attained 

"The machines were are unveiling today, I was told it's the first in Nigeria and sub-sahara Africa." 

"When you have a governor that listens, each time the CMD is always carrying files to his Excellency. And I can tell you and can bet you that non of his files have returned unattended to." He stated

"I urge us to ensure that this machine we are unveiling today is put to good use" He stated 

He revealed that the Governor is always ready to support he health sector and make it better 

The new ophthalmic equipments performs;

In her goodwill message, Professor Ureh Nma Oparaodu, Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association stressed that the good leadership style of Professor Chizindu Alikor has rewritten the history of RSUTH and redeemed if former image 

On her part, Dr Daniete Briggs, Head of department Ophthalmology explained that "as eye care professionals, they have the responsibility of ensuring that the quality of eye care services they provide is accessible to those who need it."
